Charles started playing guitar at the age of 10. He grew up singing in church, but it wasn't until he was 17 before he joined his first band. Through college he played with several bands including Backstage, November and Marble Candle. He discovered Bela Fleck and Doc Watson in his early 20's and gradually started discovering new styles including bluegrass, jazz and more importantly fingerstyle guitar. His wife also bought him a banjo and he took off running. The moment that changed his direction was when he discovered Leo Kottke. He became determined to follow in Leo's footsteps. How can one guitar sound like so many? He has taught guitar and banjo and loves being a positive influence to musicians to be. He currently resides in Charleston, SC with a vibrant music scene.
